Movie on the Lawn

On September 24th, Poplar Bluff First Church of God hosted another one of its greatly anticipated Movies on the Lawn. Everyone was invited and those who showed up to the church pavilion at 5pm found hot dogs for days and access to enough s'mores to give you diabetes just from looking at them #23boxesofgrahamcrackers.

It was a gorgeous evening to be outside. And the temperature was absolutely perfect. (So perfect, some of us passed out.)

After eating, the adults chit chatted while the children ran off their sugar highs on the playground. Chill gatherings, like this one, are so relaxing and perfect for every personality type. I mean, don't you find it easier to open up to others when you both have marshmallow on your faces?

Around 6:30pm, once the setting sun decided to cooperate with the projector, everyone marched their folding chairs from the pavilion over to the east side of the PBFirst youth building.

The hammocks were hung, the picnic blankets were laid, and the selfies were taken. It was finally time to sit back and enjoy our movie!

Despite the fact that the little kids were probably more interested in who was sitting in who's hammock, the adults found "Miracles from Heaven" more than just a little moving. It caused some misty eyes and a few quiet sniffles. It hit many of us close to home because one of our community's own lives with the same debilitating disease as depicted in the story.

But God is always good, and His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. That's a hard pill to swallow when you are the one facing the trails. But, anyone who seeks God will certainly find Him, especially in our darkest hours of need. If you haven't seen "Miracles from Heaven" yet, you should definitely consider checking it out. You won't be disappointed.

If you haven't seen Poplar Bluff's First Church of God at work in the community yet, you should definitely consider checking it out too. They gather together in the main building every Sunday morning at 10am and would love to see you there. Any and all are welcome. So, come as you are.

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.  And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
